RIDELONDON - Event Collateral
This project was about selecting an existing event and transforming it’s theme into something fresh and creative. The goal here was to develop a “mini-brand” for the event. The project was divided up into three different forms of media. Firstly we needed a invitation to let our audience know about the upcoming event, followed by a website or phone application with more information explaining what is going on in the event. Then finally a follow up event that the audience would get after the event was complete. All of these had to be done digitally so the challenge here was to make it interactive.
The event in which I decided to go for was called “Ridelondon” which essentially encourages people to go out and exercise, so what better way to do that than bringing your own bikes and cycling around the streets of London without any traffic issues for a weekend. The event occurs once a year during the end of summer and is often broadcasted on the T.V. Having originally participated in this event before I thought it would be a enjoyable experience, creating a new “mini-brand”. The theme which I came up with was to have this event take place during the night instead of the day, viewing the streets of London lit up, and encouraging people to be seen! To help achieve this and to motivate people to keep on cycling throughout the night every so often there would be checkpoints. Once the checkpoint had been reached custom LED lights would be given to accessorize the bicycles allowing for a lit up club feel around the streets.
I decided to choose a phone application for this project as I felt it was more relevant in terms of my target audience. One of the features I wanted this app to have was a fitness tracker, so that the person can set and time themselves and see how fit they are before and after the event. It was also suitable for my demographic as it is aimed at a younger audience who in this day and age always carry around and use there phones all the time.
